Le TP3 is not an easy machine to control, especially in straight lines. The choice of the tires will influence its road aptitudes largely.

The most current dimension is 9.00 X 16 with rims made up of two bolted flasks. There is one that goes up to 10,5 X 20 with one part rims which offers a longer development. This type of tire can be interesting if there is a rather powerful engine and/or a 5speed gearbox.

- The MICHELIN range offers three models in 9.00X16
* The XY :

xy.jpg (9599 octets) This is the traditional road tire, it offers good guidance on hard ground but advantageously replaces the soap cake on fatty ground. On sand, being given its weak fixing, it should behave well if the inflation pressures is adapted. (NB: I haven’t yet experience with the TP3 on sand, I would be happy to profit from yours; thank you). The XY is resistant to wear but it will regularly be necessary to turn the tires because of taking into account the positive set of this axle. Finally the price is around 2024 FF to nine, and around the 850 FF in occasion.Wenn one buys a used tire: pass your finger over it’s surface , if your finger is very black it means that this tire remained a long time in full sun and that its gum is cooked, it is nevertheless good for the service but will wear more quickly.

  * The XS:

This is the excellent sand tire. Il holds well on the tar but wears very very quickly. It hangs rather well in fat grounds when it is new, i.e.: not a long time! Price 2058 FF (In Andorra, proposed to 1500 FF).

  *The XZL TL:

A Cut out grip tire.
I did not test it considering it’s price: 2268 FF -
- Certainly a must.

Let me know when you will have tested it!

Under this name one finds different grip tires by their cutting, because of it’s military use and their name; they are manufactured in Israel (Alliance), Turkey (Petras), in the Eastern European countries or even in France.

The gums are rather soft what involves a rather fast wear, those of French origin would be more enduring. Their very cut out drawing makes them suitable for rough terrain or piste, on tar they behave largly random. Their advantage: The price, around 1000FF, but their lifespan is limited, therefore hold them for specific use.

Seek the compromise: a resistant tire of ' wear, offering good behaviour on tar and able to accept a piece fat ground, not cheap. Then take a second hand XY, ask tem to recut it for you a little but not too much and you will obtain almost a XZL TL but not approved!

Next, it can be useful to adapt them according to the load of the axes.
NB: To deflate it is easy but never wenn hot; to reinflate quickly, make a reserve of air in the spare wheel, filled to 5 or 6 bars and with a connection and a good pressure gauge the return is played without too much effort.

As a matter of fact: The weight of the wheel is 65 kg - with a rim made up of two flasks tightened by 18 bolts of 24 + a one air chamber and a protection flap. Ground tmperature ?

Méthode of disassembling:
- to wait until it is fresh, eat, réhydrate and remain calm. Do work on solid and clean ground .
- If the wheel is not burst, deflate it partially and start to unscrew the 18 bolts, without completely removing them by holding the back pin with a key of 19 (I welded them onto the flask, it is easier).
- to reinflate the wheel take off two flasks then to deflate completely.
- Réhydrate, drink!
- After separating the two flasks; one finds oneself in front of a tire with a big stuck flap. To try to separate it with one dismounted tire or, more simply to reinflate the air chamber a little what causes to open the tire; to leave the flap, to deflate, leave the chambre.

Reassembly Méthode:
- Rehydrate!
- Position the room after having cleaned the interior of the tire. Try to set up the flap. But certain tires are closed again when they are deflated and certain flaps are stiff as a projection (but not white as a Barrel candle); in this case, after having réhydraté yourself, inflate the tire tube without the valve, when the tire sufficiently opened to present the flap and to let the tube deflate while continuing to thread the flap. Is not necessary to miss it., if not, one starts again!
- Then, it is gained: to reassemble the flasks and the rebolt it again.
- Reinflate the wheel. And make a piss!!
